ART FOR NGO
Our second campaign launched in May 2020, #artforngo was done to spread awareness of these non-profit organisations through art.
Fred R. Barnard once said, “Art speaks a thousand words”.
We hope, through our platform, we are able to show our audience what these NGOs have done in order to protect and empower the sidelined and vulnerable groups in society.
All these specially curated art pieces were sent to the respective NGOs as well.
Check out these beautiful artwork below!

Rumah KITA
Drawing by artist Oscar @Oscaryslee

The monotone to colorful gradient depicted the life of pregnant single mothers before and after they received help and support from Rumah Kita. While being single mothers can be stressful and helpless, Rumah Kita supports the mothers and babies, and empowers them physically and emotionally.
They form a strong community to support each other, and always try their best to fix their relationship with their families.

“Not everyone is lucky to have a life filled with love, happiness and hope. Unknown to many, there is a segment of society which has little hope nor the familial love and community support some of us take for granted.

They are the poorest of the poor and are more often than not shunned and judged by society. Having nowhere to, they exist in the fringes of society and go about their daily lives in the shadows – alone and destitute but with a strong will to live.
Such a community lives in the backstreets of Chow Kit and has various issues to grapple with apart from rejection by society and their own families.

Some are drug users and some are people living with HIV. Most walk the streets to earn a living and have no roofs over their heads.”

“Nobody gets left behind”, SEED foundation’s motto. Honestly these user groups haven’t came to my mind at the first thought when I think of marginalized users in our societies. But luckily, SEED has recently set up a home for the most socially excluded community in Malaysia- the elderly homeless Transgender people. They empower people who are socially excluded by providing access to a safe space, supporting sustainable livelihoods, facilitating access to healthcare services and linking people to resources that will improve quality of life. Let us move towards a more gender equal, and more inclusive society!

Refuge for the refugees
Drawing by guest artist Sin Hui @the.art.by.lee

“This art piece is dedicated to @refugefortherefugees. Purple Iris flowers are drawn which symbolized hope and gratitude. How the founder for @refugefortherefugees, @Heidyquah had put so much effort in helping those who needed help, supporting unprivileged children, give them a chance to pursue education. I drew faces of refugees with genuine smiling faces to portray how grateful they are. For me, helping refugees is like giving hope and love to them, giving them the feeling of acceptance. A big thank you to @Heidyquah for running this NGO for so many years. And also, Thank you @Dududkrumahartist for giving me a chance to draw this.”

Malaysian Association for the Blind
Drawing by artist Queenie @q.dezigns

“The livelihood of the visually impaired community has been severely affected due to MCO. Many of them work as massage therapists, buskers in public places, petty trader sellers, or other freelance odd job workers. Though many of the visually impaired earn a living with their hands and their talents, these jobs often require them to come in close proximity with other people, and do not adhere to social distancing, thus they are not allowed during both MCO and CMCO. Due to the freelance nature of their work, they are also not eligible for the compensation by the government. I hope that we could all give them a little bit more love and attention during times like this.”

MAB is providing food aid to the visually impaired community who are affected by the economic crisis and loss of income during the MCO period.

DIGNITY FOR CHILDREN FOUNDATION
Drawing by artist KJ @imKJin
She emphasises the importance of education from a young age by depicting different possible scenarios.
“Some of us are lucky to be raised with care, even if a bite of ice-cream came along with mum's yelling. We lay our broken hearts on our friends’ shoulders. Even when we are alone, we know that with a clear goal, we could achieve at least something in return if we try harder; but we might never realize that this is our safe place. Beyond this place, there is darkness and despair.

One-time giving is appreciated but it couldn’t allow a man to go further on his own, and as what DiginityforChildren believes in: education might be the key to break the poverty circle. Dignity envisions to provide high-quality, all-rounded education that engages different types of learners. Hence they have even set up places for real practices like Sew x Dignity, Eat x Dignity, Cut x Dignity, etc, these are little enterprises that are run by youths. Do drop by, and you will never be disappointed by their kind service.
